The People’s Fabric (Studio Parva)
The People's Fabric is a collective in Borneo (Indonesia) that craft handmade ikat pieces. The letters “O” and “A” visually form a person, while the multiple lines represent the many indigenous women involved in weaving these unique stories. The whole typographic form is similar to the patterns formed in ikat. The natural dyes used within the process lend themselves to the earthy tones we have derived for the identity. Showcased as statement pieces in Australia, they ensure a sustainable source of livelihood for the collective, thus empowering the women.
